Where are the rebuild utilities for version 4.x level modules?

Although the version 4.0 to 4.1 modules appear to have Rebuild utilities available, what these utilities actually do is nothing but a resize data files (which remove unused records to reclaim space but perform little if any other use). The repair functionality was purposefully disabled pending enhancement by Sage Software.

Here's the email exchange with a senior Sage product manager verifying this fact:

Subject: RE: Rebuild Utilities missing?

Wayne,
With the new file structures, the rebuild program will need to be completely different.  The challenge is we can't figure out the proper way to code a file rebuild without corrupt data to test it on!  Engineering is committed to fixing any corrupt data a customer might have and using that situation to determine how to build the new utility.  The current rebuild does a simple resize - copies the data to a new file.

Another point - without the linked list files and with the data dictionary, we expect a lot less file corruption in the new architecture.  There shouldn't be anyone with bad data and they don't know it - if the data is bad they will receive an error.  Thus, please report any data errors to support ASAP.

Let me know if this doesn't answer it for you.

Thanks, and have a great holiday!

These features were never available from the start of the version 4.x rollout. Their absence was noted however in one of the Read Me files.

According to a February 2007 discussion with Sage Technical Support, the utilities are slated to re-appear in version 4.2 of Sage MAS 90 and 200.
