Sage MAS 90 or 200 Version 4.x files that should be excluded from a virus scan

Data files used for modules at the level 4.x standards have been converted to a new file structure on Version 4.00.  The Data File names now end with a suffix of .M4T as the standard file type.  File types .SOA still exist.

For Version 4.x, exclude on BOTH the workstation and file server:

· SOA
· M4T
· M4P
· M4L
· M4D
· PVC
· LIB
· RPT
· XEQ
· DD
· DDE
· DDF

TIP: Some anti-virus software programs have a setting to scan network files. If so, deselect 'Network Scanning' of files on all workstations and the server. It is almost always recommended to use a Business or Enterprise version of your Anti-Virus. These Business versions are sometimes the only version able to successfully exclude virus scans over a network connection.

We have tested Norton Antivirus Enterprise Edition and find that it works well.

For Version 3.x, exclude files ending in SOA and LIB

For both versions you may want to disable local memory resident scanning and other advanced options which could slow performance.

McAfee Antivirus users should read the related question below.
