Sage Summit 2012 Opry Event Night – best of the Twitter Pics

There were plenty of pictures sent out on Twitter last night under the hashtag #SageSummit. These photos were primarily of the Sage North America Grand Ole Opry Event featuring Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Diamond Rio, and Jake Owen.

It’s not easy to get good pictures in a darkened theater. Here is a compilation of the clearest pictures publicly tweeted during Sage’s Grand Ole Opry event night 8/15/12.

Sage Summit 2012 is Sage North America’s annual customer and partner conference held August 12-17, 2012 in Nashville Tennessee. This year Sage is expecting up to 4,000 people to attend (customers, partners, Sage, exhibitors). The event features product specific training and educational sessions of interest to the Sage community as well as an opportunity to network with your peers.

Last year Sage offered only a web based application for Summit –  which is still available here for mobile users (think BlackBerry or Windows Phone)  who don’t have access to an iOS or Android device or prefer the real time updated web data this online site provides.

You may want to use the web based site –http://www.sagesummit.com/webmobile – as it seems to be updated with real time people information while the mobile apps (at least the iOS version) seems to have a static list of people who were confirmed as attending when the application was submitted to the respective app store. UPDATE: The data on the apps will be updated shortly with a pending refresh.

Two key features of the Sage Summit iOS and Android app

Ability to search for attendees by name, company or product.

Search for exhibitors by keyword.

Which is very helpful if you’d like to narrow down the trade show booths (including finding the booth number)  you’ll need to visit in search of a specific product or service.

Use IFTTT To Build A Personal List of Sage Summit Active Twitter Users

I’ve written before about a very cool online service called IFTT. It is especially useful for anyone active in social media looking to streamline some of the postings that they routinely make to sites like Twitter and Facebook.

The name IFTT stands for “If This Then That” and the concept is so simple – yet powerful. The service sits silently awaiting a specific user defined “IF” to happen – and when it does an action is triggered.

One example may be to setup an IFTT to monitor a web RSS feed for changes and automatically post a link to your Facebook or Twitter when it occurs.

These actions can post to many different locations – and one thing that I’ve done in advance of the Sage Summit conference in August 2012 is create an action that:

  1. Scans all tweets for the hashtag #SAGESUMMIT – which is the shorthand way people indicate a Twitter message is related to a specific topic – in this case the Sage annual Summit conference
  2. When it finds such a hashtag – it adds the sender to a Twitter List (here’s my 130+ user Summit Chatter Twitter list that is constantly updated – even as I sleep).
  3. Using that Twitter list you can then monitor the more active Twitter users as Sage Summit nears.

Here’s what the list looks like as of now:

This free service runs completely “in the cloud” and allows you to create as many “recipes” as you like which can significantly save you time in managing your various social media tasks.

I’m not a huge country fan – though my girlfriend Jen is – and her eye’s exploded lit up for about 45 minutes at dinner when I mentioned that this year’s Sage Summit 2012 held August 12-17, 2012 at Gaylord Nashville will feature Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Diamond Rio, and Jake Owen.

These country stars , according to Jen, are “all on the top charts – or soon will be” . They’ll be performing on Wednesday August 15, 2012 7:30pm at the Grand Ole Opry (Tip: The Opry is RIGHT behind the Gaylord so you can walk/crawl there – no shuttle bus required).

Let me share a secret of Sage Summit entertainment with you. The last time Summit had a big show with Eddie Money – the only cost to sit up front was to be one of the first in line. I cannot guarantee how they’ll seat you for Grand Ole Opry but the chances are almost guaranteed pretty good you can grab a front row (or reasonably close) seat.

Update: Sage told me that they’ve reserved some VIP front row space for those who are deemed VIT or Very Important Tweeters.  To qualify simple be sure you use the Twitter hashtag #sagesummit when you are at the conference and tweeting.

With Eddy Money in 2007,  most of the attendees were dawdling and mingling so I had no problem grabbing a stage row seat (Take a peek at - I wanna Go Back – 2007 at Sage’s  Universal Studios conference event).

Country fan? Want to mingle with other customers using Sage products? Interested in making connections with other smart consultants?

Join everyone at Sage Summit 2012 in Nashville. We’ll be there covering the news from Saturday to Tuesday and each morning we’ll walk from 6-7 am to discuss the days events and other Sage related news (all welcome – meet in front of hotel).

Sage Summit 2012 Tip: Battery Survival Kit

When you hit the Sage Summit 2012 conference floor in August 2012 you’ll probably be carrying either a smartphone and/or tablet. I use my iPad almost exclusively these days for note taking (Evernote) and my iPhone for capturing images.

The downfall to long days spend wandering the halls of conferences is that your battery power runs out long before the end of the day.

That’s why I have been travelling with a backup battery and dual split (micr0-usb and iPhone) adapter cord. Using this battery I’m able to get about three iPhone or one iPad recharge.

The battery is a little on the heavy side but the benefit is that during the conference my smartphone and iPad always have a full electronic charge and I’m not hunting for an electrical outlet by 2pm.

Here’s a link to the essential equipment via Amazon:

The Best Sage Summit 2012 Education – It’s Not In Your Catalog

If you’re attending Sage Summit 2012 then you may want to attend what I consider to be the best course offered during the entire conference.

Each morning at 6am until about 7am a group of Sage partners and customers meet at the front lobby of the hotel (main entrance). For an hour we walk and discuss the important items we’ve learned during the day as well as courses that we are planning to attend during the day.

This informal (and unofficial) activity is a great way to meet new people during Sage Summit and also provides for lots of knowledge sharing.

No reservations required – simply show up at 6am at the front doors of the hotel starting Sunday morning.

Sage Summit 2012 Social Media: All You Need To Know

Sage

Sage Summit 2012 is scheduled for Nashville TN August 12-17, 2012. As with prior years a big part of the value that youll take away from the conference will be interacting with other participants.

However if you arent all that familiar with Social Media you may struggle to understand the various ways the to connect.

Theres a Sage Summit Facebook Group for private discussion, a Twitter account for official tweets and YouTube for videos.

Where is the best place to visit if you dont have time to create multiple social media accounts?

We suggest that if you can only pick one tool – use Twitter.

This online short messaging service is perhaps the most popular communications tool during conferences. The secret to finding highly relevant content is to search for the official hash tag for Sage Summit – #Sagesummit.

Hashtags are special abbreviations which users place into their messages to categorize the content. Searching for the hashtag #sagesummit will filter out your Twitter feed and show only the active messages being broadcast during the conference.

Below is an image of what your filtered search for #Sagesummit will look like via the http://www.twitter.com site.

All mobile Twitter clients allow you to perform similar searches.

Sage Summit 2011 Review (Audio)

Sage Summit 2011 is the annual conference hosted by Sage to present their product plans for the coming year and offer educational sessions for partners and customers.

In prior years Sage Insights was the partner focused conference hosted in May while Sage Summit was customer focused and hosted in the Fall. This year for the first time Sage combined two formerly separate conferences.

During the conference each morning I walked from 6am to 7am with fellow Sage partners Peter Wolf of Azamba Consulting and Robert Wood of DDF Consulting. Each morning we invited others to join us (only one person showed). We thought it might be interesting to record a short portion of our walks.

Below are links to each of the five chats we recorded – as well as our thoughts on the day’s activities.

Sage Summit 2012 Returns To Gaylord National

sage summit location 2012.jpg

It’s official. Just as Sage Summit 2011 is closing down Sage has announced that the Gaylord Hotel in Nashville TN will be the conference host for Summit 2012.

You may recall that the Gaylord National suffered severe flooding in May 2010. The hotel has been completely rebuilt and re-opened in October 2010.

The conference will once again be a joint partner/customer event. More details as the event draws closer.

Attending Sage Summit 2011 from July 10 to 15, 2011 in DC?

If you’re active on Twitter or LinkedIn there will be a Tweet Up (that’s an informal unsponsored meeting of people who use Twitter or LinkedIN — aka twits) happening on Tuesday July 12, 2011 from 6pm to 7pm.

Making connections at conferences is one of the key reasons that many people attend. Stop by and say hi – and make some new connections in an informal setting with other conference goers.

Follow the link below to view the location and give your RSVP.

Thinking about attending Sage Summit 2011? This year’s conference hosted by Sage is geared toward both customers and consultants.

The game plan is for the consultants to roll in for the July 10-15, 2011 time period and the customers can arrive July 12-15. Once again a good time is promised to all (what’s not to love about a resort where it costs well under $5 to transfer from the airport to the front doorstep).

If you’re headed to Washington be sure you keep your ear to the ground to learn of everything that’s happening. All the usual suspects – Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube will be buzzing with activity as the date nears.

Where do you go to find the Social Media buzz around Summit 2011?

Sage have just created a Facebook Page that will hold pictures and updated information about their July 10-15, 2011 conference.

This year’s event is in Washington DC at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center. For the first time both Sage Partners and Sage Customers will attend this conference with Partners welcomed July 10-12 and Customers July 12-15.

The Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center is convenient to public transportation and only about 25 minutes from the fantastic DC subway system which leads to almost any historic site you’d want to see.
